ISA New Orleans Section Members and Prospective Members,
It has only been a week since my last communication, but quite a bit has happened in the past week filling out a full slate of presentations and events to take us through the summer. You can keep up to date with all of our events on the events page of the ISA New Orleans website, https://neworleansisa.org/events/.
Our first member’s meeting, lunch, and presentation for the year will be next Tuesday, February 12th at MS Benbow and Associates. We will meet at 11:30 to socialize and begin lunch. The presentation portion of the meeting will start at noon. This month I will be presenting an update on the soon to be released ISA Technical Report 101.02 – HMI Usability and Performance. You will see what you can expect from this Technical Report with many example screens and displays. This TR does a great job explaining to the user how to build effective HMIs to yield improved safety, quality, productivity, and reliability. For more information on the meeting and to register click here. We will also have this meeting available via web simulcast if you cannot attend in person, and we will archive it along with the presentation on our website to view or review in the future.
This presentation is a follow-up to the overview presentation I gave on the ISA-101 standard back in September 2017. You can click here to view the recording and download the presentation from our meeting archives.
In March, Champion Technology Services will sponsor our meeting and present the benefits and best practices in deploying virtualized systems. In April, we welcome back a long time friend of the section, Greg McMillan, who will present on the topic of compressor surge modeling and control. May will be very busy as we bring back both the plant tour along with the symposium and exhibition. Our tour will be hosted at the Michelli Weighing and Measurement Calibration Lab. Our table top exhibition and symposium will be held on Friday afternoon, May 31st at the Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center. The following day, June 1, we will host the District 7 Leadership Conference also at the HGI.
The District 7 Leadership Conference will be open to all leaders in the New Orleans Section. We have many open positions to fill on our board as chairs, co-chairs, and committee members. I encourage you to get involved to develop and hone your leadership skills and help keep our historic section moving in the right direction. Please reach out to me if you are interested in participating more in ISA.
Best regards,
Dean Bickerton
