This is my first President’s message since October and we are hosting our first ISA meeting since September. We are looking forward moving into 2020 celebrating ISA’s 75th Anniversary and continuing to deliver new content, programs, and events through ISA New Orleans.
I attended the ISA Annual Leadership Conference in San Diego this past October. This provided a great opportunity to network with ISA Staff along with District, Section, and Division leaders from around the world to share best practices and collectively work on opportunities to enhance ISA and its value to our membership. During our District 7 meeting, I was elected the District 7 Vice President-Elect. This means I will be working with our current, DVP, Sohail Iftikhar from the Houston Section on behalf of our District’s Sections which are all based in LA and TX. I will move to the DVP position in January of 2022 and will hold the term for two years. I do this as I continue to see the importance of ISA to create a better world through automation by enhancing technical competence and connecting the automation community to achieve operational excellence. Click here for an overview of ISA’s new strategic direction. It is very exciting.
Our next meeting will be a joint ISA – IEEE/IAS presentation on the Evolution of LED Lighting for Smart Facilities. This presentation will be conducted and sponsored by Dialight in conjunction with Schell-Martin and The Reynolds Company. We are pleased to offer this meeting to both ISA and IEEE/IAS (Industrial Applications Society). As always, members can attend the lunch and presentation for free, and non-members are only $10. This is a great value to meet with peers, learn about new technological advances, and earn a valuable professional development hour. Please click here to learn more about the topic and to register. You can attend in person or via our web simulcast.
We are currently working on subsequent meeting agendas and events for the rest of 2020. We will give our Sponsors the first opportunity to present technical topics. We really appreciate the companies who sponsor ISA New Orleans. Their annual contribution of $150 allows us to keep the costs of our monthly meetings low for non-members and free to members. It also helps fund our scholarship program and other forms of community outreach. Please consider joining us as a sponsor. Details can be found here.
