Presidents Message – August 2019

ISA New Orleans Section,

On Tuesday, August 13th, ISA New Orleans will tour the NOLA Fab Lab at Delgado.  The Fab Lab concept emerged from MIT’s Center for Bits & Atoms and its mission is to provide access to the tools, knowledge and the financial means to educate, innovate and invent using technology and digital fabrication.  It is a STEM outreach program for K-12 and adults.  The Fab Lab at Delgado is the only one in Louisiana and is one of few in the US and the World.  It was made possible through a generous grant by Chevron and features a laser cutter, 3D printer, vinyl cutter, CNC router and a design lab with computers loaded with the latest software tools to harness the capabilities of the lab equipment.  You can learn more about this tour and register to attend here.

We have other events coming up in September and October through our associations with other organizations, namely ACE and LAGCOE.  The Annual Calibration Exchange (ACE) is a two-day conference designed to equip managers, engineers and technicians in the field with strategies for improving daily maintenance processes and tasks.  It will be held at UNO on September 18-19.  Registration is $195 for one-day access and $300 for full access both days and includes admission to all technical sessions, 8 keynote speakers and a networking event.  Attendees can earn up to 5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) per day and proceeds from the event will be applied towards scholarship awards to deserving UNO Engineering Students.  More information is available at the registration and event website:

LAGCOE will hold their biennial expo in New Orleans this year.  This global event has traditionally been held at the Cajun Dome in Lafayette.  It will be held for the first time at the Ernest M. Morial Convention Center, October 9-11.  This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of attendees, all gathered to learn about the latest technology, innovation and opportunities in the oil and gas industry. From onshore and offshore to exploration and production, LAGCOE 2019 features a unique blend of professional networking, subject matter expertise and Louisiana hospitality guaranteed to be worth your time.  ISA New Orleans section has secured a 10% discount for anyone wishing to attend LAGCOE 2019.  Visit the following link and click “Attendee” on the registration page to use promo code “ISANOLA2019” for your 10% discount:
