Hello ISA New Orleans Section!
Thanks to everyone who attended our September technical meeting on the ISA101 HMI Standard. We had a great turnout for lunch both live and via our web simulcast. We have also had many take advantage of watching the recorded archive of this meeting or downloading the presentation. If you missed it and would like to see the video or download the presentation, visit https://neworleansisa.org/events/meeting-archives/.
Our next meeting is this Tuesday, October 3rd from Noon to 1PM at MS Benbow and Associates. This session will be presented by one of our new sponsors, United Electric Controls. UE Controls will also be sponsoring lunch, so members can attend the session for free and non-members for just $10. We will open the doors at 11:30AM to allow everyone to grab lunch, socialize, and get settled. We will start the technical presentation promptly at noon.

Yesterday I attended the inaugural Core Element Community STEM Fest held at the Saints and Pelicans training facility on Airline Drive – http://core4kids.org/news-view/stem-fest/. The event was a huge success with more than 2000 elementary and high school students in attendance. Fun and interesting activities were hosted by many of our membership’s companies such as Chevron, Delgado, Dow, Entergy, FIRST, LSU, NASA, Shell, Tulane, UNO, and WS Nelson. This year we supported the event with advertising, but I would like to see us support it with as an exhibitor next year.
The ISA New Orleans Section is also promoting and exhibiting in another outreach event this Wednesday, October 4th. We will be hosting a table and presenting at Manufacturing Day – https://neworleansisa.org/2017/07/29/isa-new-orleans-section-to-sponsor-manufacturing-day-at-tulane-university/. The purpose of this event is to inspire high school and college age students to pursue careers in the manufacturing industry. If you would like to help by attending or manning our booth, please register using the link above, and send me an email with the times you can participate.
I hope to see you at our meeting this Tuesday.
Best regards,
Dean Bickerton
