President’s Message – August 2017

Hello ISA New Orleans Section!

We will kick of the 2017/18 ISA New Year with a Member Meeting and Technical Presentation on Tuesday, September 12 @ The Reynolds Company in Harahan.  We are introducing some changes to our meeting format this year.

  • First, you will notice the meetings will be held over lunch.
  • Second, you will see that you can attend the meeting via web simulcast if you cannot be there live.
  • Third, you can attend the meeting for Free if you are an ISA Member, and for only $10 if you are a non-Member.
  • Professional Development Hours will be available on request for both live and virtual attendees.
  • Lunch will be served to our live attendees.

The topic of our member meeting will be two-fold.  We will kick off the meeting with announcements on section activities and events and will move into a technical update on ISA101, a standard for Human-Machine Interfaces.

What do you want out of ISA locally?  We want to hear from you.  Please take our quick 9 question, 2 minute survey:  If you have any additional questions or suggestions please email me at or call me on my cell at 504-717-0718.

Do you want to be a section sponsor and/or sponsor an upcoming technical meeting?  We are looking to add to our current list of sponsors:  Here is the link to sign your company up to be a sponsor:  It only costs $150/year and will provide your company great visibility on our section website and at section events.  You will also have a priority opportunity to be a meeting sponsor and table-top exhibitor at an upcoming section meeting.  Call me or email me if you need additional information or want to sign up to sponsor an upcoming meeting.

I would like to thank our Marketing/Membership Chair and Webmaster, Wayne Welk.  He has done a wonderful job cleaning up and adding valuable content to our website and social media sites.  Our theme for the year is “Onwards & Upwards: 2017/2018 Will be a Whole New Year”.  I encourage you to check out the site for important section and community activity and information –

You can also keep up with us via your favorite social sites as well:

I encourage all members and potential members to take advantage of what the ISA New Orleans Section has to offer.  If we can do something to add more value to your ISA Membership, please let us know.  If you want to participate on our board to drive out further value to our membership, please reach out to me.

Best regards,
Dean Bickerton
