Hello ISA New Orleans Section members!
It’s been some time since our last communication, and for that I apologize. I want to thank everyone for their continued membership with ISA and the New Orleans Section over the last year.
Recently ISA released their 2023 strategic plan for the society. The strategic plan is developed and managed by the ISA Executive Board along with staff leadership and society committee leaders. Each year the plan is validated and modified to reflect progress and new priorities.
The core elements of the 2023 strategic plan are ISA’s vision, mission and values.
Vision – Create a better world through automation
Mission – Empowering the global automation community through standards and knowledge sharing
Values – Excellence, diversity and inclusion, professionalism, integrity and collaboration
The good news for the society as a whole is that as we recover from the pandemic era, they are becoming healthier with a better financial outlook and growth in membership. This is encouraging to hear and a positive sign for ISA continuing to be the leader in automation standards, training, certifications and knowledge sharing. Be proud to be a member of ISA, they are doing great things!
Our challenge as the New Orleans Section is to work as one team to align with the society’s core vision, mission and values and bring a revived sense of purpose to our local community.
I’ll admit, it’s not as easy as it sounds. It will take all of us to think of new ways to perform outreach, bring awareness and advocate for automation and instrumentation as viable career paths. It will take all of us to help mentor young ISA professionals as they embark on their careers. It will take all of us to help grow our local community of automation and instrumentation professionals to increase our collective pool of knowledge. We’re here to help each other and learn from each other. Our diversity and combined experiences make us the most powerful think tank of automation and instrumentation in the industry.
For one upcoming community outreach activity, the ISA New Orleans Section will once again participate in this year’s STEM Fest presented by Chevron and the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans. At our table we will highlight smart manufacturing and automation with an interactive display using digital twin and emulation technology.
I look forward to getting back to local technical seminars in the very near future. I also look forward to hearing from you on ways to help improve and work together to help grow our local community and advocate for automation and instrumentation careers with area high school and college students.
