ISA New Orleans Section,
We will not have a meeting or presentation this month, but there is still quite a bit of activity to report from ISA New Orleans Section.

Last month, Beamex hosted their Annual Calibration Exchange event at the University of New Orleans. I attended and saw quite a few of our ISA members from the local and surrounding areas. I am happy to report Beamex donated $7500 in proceeds from the event to establish an engineering scholarship at UNO. The New Orleans Section stepped in to partner with Beamex, had the funds matched through our ISA Foundation endowment, and pledged an additional $10,000 to create a $25,000 Endowment with UNO which will award a $1000 merit-based scholarship annually to a deserving student in the College of Engineering at UNO. Just last week, JEDCO, LED, and Delgado hosted the first annual Manufacturing Summit at the new Delgado Community College River City site. Wayne Welk and I attended on behalf of ISA. Our eyes were opened to many programs and opportunities for ISA New Orleans Section to partner with local businesses in our mission to advance technical competence by connecting the automation community to achieve operational excellence in the manufacturing sector. More information on the Manufacturing Summit can be found here – https://neworleansisa.org/2019/10/02/jedco-and-delgado-community-college-hold-manufacturing-summit/
Later this month I will be heading to the ISA Annual Leadership Conference. Based on the agenda and some dialog with our District 7 leadership I should have some exciting news for you next month on the launch of technology we can all use to better connect and share information with each other, again to “connect the automation community” in our mission statement. Stay tuned…
Lastly, don’t forget the annual Process Industry Conference will be held at the Westin Houston, Memorial City hotel from November 4-6. This event features keynote presenters, technical tracks, expert-led training courses, and an exhibitor showcase.
