ISA New Orleans Section,
Our next meeting is this
coming Tuesday following the Labor Day holiday, so I wanted to get this message
out sooner. Nat Muthaiah, a Senior Process Control Engineer with Chevron
Oronite, will reprise a presentation given earlier this summer at the Honeywell
User Group meeting in Dallas. Nat will share his experience in Process
Control System modernization with a goal of digital acceleration. That is
taking advantage of control system modernization and life cycle management
which must occur to reduce risk and utilizing the technical enhancements
available to also improve process control and operator efficiency. Nat
will cover enhancement to their systems through virtualization, integrated
documentation, alarm management, procedural automation, and other advanced
solutions which allow Chevron Oronite the ability to meet their digital vision.
We will meet on Tuesday, September 3rd at MS Benbow and
Associates for the lunch and presentation. We will also make the
presentation available via web simulcast and will post to our meeting archive
if you cannot attend in person. You can get more information and register to
attend live for via the web by clicking here. We have already had great response from our initial
announcement of this meeting, so please register to attend today!
Thanks to everyone who attended our tour the NOLA Fab Lab at
Delgado in August. A special thanks to Ellie Buehler and her team for the
overview of the great work being done at Fab Lab in STEM outreach programs for
K-12 and adults. Attendees each had the opportunity to build their own,
mini Eiffel Tower, complete with LEDs and parts fabricated on the Fab Lab
laser cutter. It was a great afternoon of networking and discovery.
Additional events are coming up in September and October through
our associations with other organizations, namely ACE and LAGCOE. The
Annual Calibration Exchange (ACE) is a two-day conference designed to equip managers, engineers and technicians in the field with
strategies for improving daily maintenance processes and tasks. It will
be held at UNO on September 18-19.
Registration is $195 for one-day access and $300 for full access both
days and includes admission to all technical
sessions, 8 keynote speakers and a networking event. Attendees
can earn up to 5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) per day and proceeds from
the event will be applied towards scholarship awards to deserving UNO
Engineering Students. More information is available at the registration
and event website: https://resources.beamex.com/annual-calibration-exchange
