ISA New Orleans Section Members and Prospective Members,
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 18. Dianne Denison and Matt Moore from Denison Consulting Group, one of our section sponsors, will present “Power Quality and Energy Management: Increasing Reliability with Assessments and Monitoring”. The presentation will discuss the necessity to monitor and measure power to identify ways to optimize its use. Assessments and monitoring can also identity potential power quality events which can be very costly in terms of equipment damage and downtime if not addressed. Dianne and Matt will discuss a methodology for performing a detailed assessment of a power system and will demonstrate a means to monitor power quality and use . You can learn more about the topic and register to attend here.
On Wednesday, October 10th, ISA New Orleans Section will sponsor the local IEEE/IAS chapter meeting at MS Benbow. We are bringing John Laurence Busch back to talk more about the impact of high technology shifts from a historical prospective. Many of you attended John’s presentation this past March on the Steamship Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic. In this follow-up presentation, he will discuss the long evolution from natural sail power to artificial steam power. He will then analyze modern-day efforts to re-introduce sail power to artificially-powered vessels and the rationale for creating these retro hybrid-power configurations. Register to attend this session at the following link.
As mentioned last month, we are committed to serving our members and non-members with high quality professional development opportunities. We are working on building our meeting agenda from November 2018 to August 2019. If you have an idea for a topic or you want to present a topic, please reach out to me at dabickerton@reynco.com. We also rely on our sponsors to provide topics and funding to keep our meetings at a low cost. If you would like to have your company sponsor the section, you can click here to pay the $150 annual sponsorship. We will promote your company on our sponsor page and at our monthly meetings.
