2018 Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair

ISA New Orleans Section members – please see the call for volunteers to support the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair to be held at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Information from the Fair Directors:

The Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) is moving this year to Tulane University with 2 judging dates on Tuesday, February 27th (Junior Division) and Wednesday, February 28th (Senior Division), 2018, and we are in need of judges!  It will be at Tulane University Lavin-Bernick Center at 29 McAlister Drive and is open to 6th-12th grade students in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes.  Complimentary parking will be provided by Loyola University.

Category judging will take place on both days from 8am-noon (including check-in and deliberation), and separate Grand Award judging will follow right after lunch, which is being provided.  Please consider judging for us on either or both of these dates.  And if you are not available in the morning, please consider judging for the Grand Award winners from the top two projects in each category.

If you can volunteer as a judge, please sign up at http://gnosef.tulane.edu/judgeform.cfmYou will be asked to identify the date(s) you are available and the categories in which you have expertise. You will also have an opportunity to indicate if you are interested in volunteering to judge at local school fairs that occur in December and January.  If you are not available to judge at the GNOSEF, but would like to volunteer in another capacity over the course of the 4-day event – February 26th-March 1st, 2018, please go to http://gnosef.tulane.edu/volunteerform.cfm for information about other volunteer positions including safety judging in the afternoons of February 26th and 27th.

We thank you for your participation in this worthwhile mission!  Not only is your participation needed to identify the best students to award and advance to the next level of competition, it is also needed to encourage all of the students in their efforts to pursue science and engineering. For some students this may be the first time that they have actually had a chance to meet and talk with a STEM professional!

Please pass on to your colleagues that may be interested in judging!  Thank you!
