ISA New Orleans Section Members and Prospective Members,
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 7th. We are pleased to welcome Paul Gruhn back to the New Orleans Section to speak once again. Paul has been a great friend and supporter of our section over the years as a subject matter expert on Process Safety. He regularly visits to conduct both presentations and training seminars. Next week Paul will present to us the latest with the ISA-84 standard for Safety Instrumented Systems and other safety topics. Paul is also the incoming President of ISA globally and will share his goals and ideas for the society in the coming year. Please make plans to join us for this meeting:
During the month of July, your New Orleans Section Executive Committee conducted a series of short range and long range planning sessions. As a result, we created an updated Vision and Mission for the section which will drive our strategic goals moving forward. We aligned our local vision statement with the new, simplified vision of ISA which is to “Create a better world through automation”. To that end, we came up with some new mission statements. ISA’s updated mission statement is to “Advance technical competence by connecting the automation community to achieve operational excellence.”
We created the following mission statements for our section:
- New Orleans Section’s mission is to serve members and non-members by providing high quality professional development opportunities.
- New Orleans Section also reaches out to other entities (industry, academia, STEM programs) to increase their awareness of automation applications and to encourage automation as a profession.
We are hard at work setting up our calendar of speakers and events for September 2018 through August 2019. If you are interested in presenting a topic or have an idea for a topic, please let me know. We are here to support the mission of providing high quality professional development.
Next month we will begin promoting Section Sponsorship. Our sponsors help us keep the meeting costs down for members and non-members alike. They also allow us the funds to assist us in our mission of outreach promoting automation as a profession. If you are not currently a sponsor, we invite you to join us in our mission. You can click here to pay the $150 annual sponsorship. We will promote your company on our sponsor page. We will also promote your sponsorship at our monthly meetings. As a sponsor you have first choice at sponsoring an upcoming technical meeting. If you sign up this month, your sponsorship will be good through October 1, 2019. So sign up now, and get an extra month.
In closing, I want to remind you that this is your ISA Section. We want to hear from you on what you need from us for your professional development.
ISA New Orleans Section President
